Is your make-up routine getting you down? Sometimes we all get stuck in a make-up rut! Whenever the seasons change I like to switch up my make-up color palette. I often times experiment with drugstore cosmetics just as much as professional cosmetics. I realize that a lot of my clients shop mostly for their make-up at the drugstore so I like to be in the know about what is great and what is not so great. Milani is a company that makes pretty fantastic blushes and bronzers. I’ve been using their baked blush in “Luminoso” (a great dupe for Nars “Orgasm” at about 1/3 the price) for a while now, so when I wanted to get a new fall inspired blush I decided to try another Milani baked blush. This time I went with a more mauve toned color called “Fantastico Mauve.” I paired this with the super popular Maybelline Color Sensational gloss in the color “030 Raspberry Rhapsody.” I’ve gotten compliments every day (not kidding!!) on my lip color or make-up since I bought these products.
Perfect Non-greasy Hand Cream
My hands are always sore and dry… not the occasional tiny-bit dry most normal women get, but SUPER DUPER dry!! I wash may hands many many times a day and am constantly in need of hand cream. Up until now there were several problems: 1) the hand cream was too greasy 2) the hand cream was really pricy 3) the hand cream felt synthetic (too much silicone!). Recently I have found the perfect solution and I will never go back to anything else! Nivea Hand Salve in the mini tin is my go-to favorite. I love it because 1) it soaks in (but doesn’t disappear) within 30 seconds 2) it is under $2 at your local drugstore 3) the time is ultra portable for even the smallest purses/clutches. When I am in a pinch a tiny bit can also be used to fend of static-y skirts or unruly split ends. Go get yours today! You will LOVE it!
Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
I just love this time of year! Autumn is always filled with great memories of my childhood spent in Vermont. We did things like apple picking, hay rides, pumpkin carving etc. Well, now that I’ve lived in Hawaii for almost 14 years I’ve had to come up with new ways to celebrate the “change in seasons” because it barely feels like Autumn here. Anyhow, my “Autumn” in Hawaii consists of drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes pretty frequently. But I have to say, paying close to $5 every time I want one of these guys is adding up! So.. I went on a hunt to find a great recipe to make it myself. I tried this DIY recipe from www.farmgirlgourmet.com and it is really good!! Enjoy 🙂
Ingredients
2 cups milk (any % you choose)
4 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup strong coffee or espresso
canned whipped cream
Directions
1 Add the milk, pumpkin, sugar, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice to a small sauce pan over medium-high heat. Bring almost to a boil. Remove from heat and add to a blender. Blend on high until the milk begins to froth, about 2 minutes. Divide milk mixture between two mugs. Add the coffee slowly down the side so you don’t disturb the milk froth, add a squirt of whipped cream and a pinch more of the pumpkin pie spice and enjoy.
NOTE: Alternatively, you could add the milk mixture to a 2 cup Pyrex measure and heat in the microwave to the desired temperature.
Make 2 – 10 ounce latte’s

MAC BB Cream
It’s funny but the older I get the less foundation I want to wear. I feel like if I wear too much foundation it just ends up making me look more aged and enhances any dryness or fine lines. Recently when I stopped by MAC I picked up one of their BB cream compacts. Can I just say… LOVE!! I love it because it gives me a decent amount of coverage, looks very fresh, doesn’t make me break out (like A LOT of the MAC foundations do), and is easy to throw in my purse.
It comes in a creme compact formulation for normal/dry skin and a tube formulation for normal/oily skin. If you have skin on the drier side you will probably love this!
