Pros & Cons of Coloring Your Hair/ Highlights for Your Wedding: Guest post from SimplyBridal
As your wedding day quickly approaches, you’re probably thinking of ways to make sure you look your very best when you walk down the aisle. If you’re planning to dye your hair for your big day, keep in mind the general rule of thumb is that you should always stay within two shades of your natural hair color. However this is only a general rule, if you’re someone who’s very spontaneous and likes to think outside the box, this may not apply to you! Here are some pros and cons to help you decide whether dying your hair before your big day is too risky or totally fine.
Pros
The idea of changing your hair color may seem terrifying (especially right before one of the most important days of your life!) but try to look at it as something fun, spontaneous and different! Updating your hair color will have you looking bold on your special day, but having said that, don’t rush out and dye your locks hot pink or bright blue just yet! You should just aim to make your hair look fresh and polished for your big day.
If you plan to dye your hair before your wedding, there are a few things you should consider. Definitely test your new hair color out at least a week or two beforehand. That way if you decide you don’t like your new hue, you have plenty of time to fix it before you tie the knot. Once you have your hair color done, try on your dress to get a feel for your complete wedding look. And lastly, don’t forget to ask your closest girlfriends what they think. And tell them to be brutally honest!
Cons
An obvious downside to coloring your hair before your wedding is the chance that it all goes horribly wrong. As we mentioned above (and is definitely worth mentioning again!), you’ll want to test new color or highlights well before your big day, that way if you decide it was a big mistake you can fix it without any issues. Another negative of coloring your hair for your wedding is that although you might want to stand out and wow your guests, you should also remember that being yourself and letting your true colors shine for your wedding is also very important. You don’t want to look back at your wedding albums and ask yourself why you changed your hair for your wedding when it’s not the way your normally have it.
The biggest advice we can offer you when it comes to deciding whether or not to color your hair for your wedding is: don’t be afraid of change, but stay true to who you are so that your special day is a true reflection of who you are.
